Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 13, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Data Path Academy ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use datapathacademy.com (the "Service"). We process personal data in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) of the Philippines.
2. Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash — we never store your plain-text password).
- Learning activity: lessons viewed, quiz and exercise submissions, code you write in exercises, progress and achievements.
- Payment information: when you purchase a Path, PayMongo (our payment processor) collects and processes your payment details directly. We receive only the transaction status, amount, and a payment reference ID — never your full card number or banking credentials.
- Technical data: session cookies used to keep you signed in, and standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) for security and troubleshooting.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and track your learning progress;
- To process payments and grant access to purchased Paths;
- To respond to support requests and refund requests;
- To maintain the security and integrity of the Service;
- To improve course content based on aggregate, de-identified usage patterns.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.
4. Sharing of Information
We share personal data only with:
- PayMongo, to process your payment when you purchase a Path (see PayMongo's own privacy policy for how they handle payment data);
- Infrastructure providers that host our application and database (e.g. our hosting and database providers), solely to operate the Service;
- Authorities, where required to comply with a valid legal request.
We do not otherwise sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain transaction records for tax, accounting, or legal purposes.
6. Your Rights
Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012, you have the right to:
- Be informed that your personal data is being processed;
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate data;
- Object to or withdraw consent for certain processing;
- Request erasure or blocking of your data, subject to legal retention requirements;
- Lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) of the Philippines.
To exercise any of these rights, email xnathan01@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
7. Cookies
We use a single essential session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. You can clear this cookie at any time by signing out or clearing your browser storage, which will end your session.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including password hashing, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access controls on our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us at xnathan01@gmail.com and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
